countdown to Christmas!

This will be baby G’s first Christmas and our first Christmas as a family of four. So I want to make it special and start a tradition that we can keep for all the following years. As a child I remember waiting for Christmas with anticipation. My siblings and I looked forward to it, wondering if we’d get the toys we’d asked for, peeking through our parent’s closet to see if we could find anything. It was an exciting time.

On Christmas Eve we’d visit all our cousins, house by house, to exchange presents. Then we’d go back to my grandmother’s house and wait until midnight to greet each other and open presents. After that we’d have Christmas dinner to finish with some hot chocolate and “paneton“.

Of course I don’t remember what the presents were. What I remember the most are the family gatherings, the sharing. And I want that for my kids. I want them to look forward to the Christmas Season, knowing it’s a time to share with family and friends.

As a way to countdown to Christmas, we decided that each day, starting today yesterday, we’ll be doing something Christmas related, something like an Advent Calendar. Yesterday we started writing Santa a letter.Today I’ll hit a Holiday Craft Show with Baby G. I’ll post our complete list of activities as soon as I have it all figured out.

This is where we’ll be this Holiday Season. Let the countdown begin!
